London - A small piece of slate inscribed with the word Artognov has been found at Tintagel, the traditional birth place in Cornwall of King Arthur. The stone described by archaeologists as "the find of a lifetime" is the first scrap of solid evidence ever discovered linking the legendary Arthur with a real man.

"Everyone has heard these things about protests and so on and is checking it," one diplomat at a Western embassy said.

"But whether it's true or not, who knows? It's certainly not unlinked to Saturday," they added, referring to the August 8 anniversary of a bloody military crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrators which left thousands dead, according to unofficial estimates.
