MEMBERS OF three Roma families have been evicted from their rented house in south Belfast by their landlord and placed in temporary accommodation.

Some of the 21 immigrants were among those targeted by racists in the city last June and they had only recently returned to the city.

It is understood they were in dispute with their landlord over rent and the condition of the house.

Alliance Assembly member Anna Lo said the incident was unfortunate. “I would urge these people to co-operate with the police and social services to find themselves suitable alternative accommodation as soon as possible,” she said.

The families are being housed in hostels until more permanent arrangements can be made.
