The European Central Bank today said it has left its leading interest rates unchanged at 2 per cent following today's governing council meeting.

Main refinancing operations will continue to be conducted as variable rate tenders with a minimum bid rate of 2 per cent.

The deposit rate remains at 1 per cent and the rate on the marginal lending facility at 3 per cent. The decision was in line with economists' expectations.
