Shop owners are expecting a steady stream of hopefuls buying Euromillions lottery tickets today as they eye an estimated €131 million jackpot.

The jackpot has not been won and has rolled over for nine consecutive weeks.

Last week, when the jackpot was at €112 million, tickets were selling at a rate of one million per hour. Paddy Power bookmakers said the odds of winning tonight's top prize were more than 76 million to one.

The odds for an Irish player hitting the jackpot again are 20-1.

Last year, Dolores McNamara from Limerick won the Euromillions jackpot when she scooped a €115 million prize.
