The euro soared against the dollar today, rising to a record high on the back of broad-based weakness in the US currency.

By 0644 GMT, the euro had risen as high as $1.2930 in Tokyo trading from around $1.2845 in New York last night.

The dollar was weak across the board as investors snapped up high-yielding currencies on fading prospects of an interest rate increase in the United States.
