An emergency debate on the case of the IRA prisoner Patrick Kelly is to be sought at next week's sitting of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Kelly, who is in Maghaberry Prison, Co Derry, is seriously ill with cancer and is seeking a transfer to Portlaoise Prison to be nearer his family. The debate is being sought by the Dublin Labour MEP, Ms Bernie Malone, and the Leinster Fianna Fail MEP, Mr Liam Hyland.
