A European Commissioner leading a Brussels taskforce on Northern Ireland will today meet a senior minister in the Stormont powersharing government.

Regional Policy Commissioner Danuta Hubner will meet Finance Minister Peter Robinson in Belfast.

Tomorrow she will meet Unionist MEPs Jim Nicholson and Jim Allister, Sinn Féin MEP Bairbre de Brún, Dennis Rooney of the International Fund for Ireland and Pat Colgan of the Special EU Programmes Body.

Ms Hubner will also tour projects supported by the European Regional Development Fund and Peace Funds Programme.

Before her arrival in Belfast, however, Mr Nicholson and Mr Allister accused the Stormont Executive of snubbing their requests for briefings on their discussions with senior European officials.

They also claimed First Minister Ian Paisley did not acknowledge their request for a briefing on the visit in May of EU Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso.
