LUXEMBOURG - The EU Commission accused the British government of riding roughshod over EU laws protecting rare birds in the European Court of Justice yesterday.

The row over a 22 hectare mudflat known as Lappel Bank was triggered by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, lighting what it claims is the government's illegal application of EU conservation rules.
