The Court of Criminal Appeal has ordered the release of a man from Northern Ireland who caused the death of a Co Louth man through dangerous driving nearly five years ago.

The three-judge court yesterday determined there had been an error in principle in the three-year sentence imposed on Kevin Haughey (28) for dangerous driving causing the death of Dundalk man Paddy McCloskey (36).
