The Labour Court has rejected an equal pay claim from Mandate for more than 500 members in Penneys Ltd, writes Padraig Yeates, Industry and Employment Correspondent. If conceded, the claim would have entitled staff to an estimated £5 million in back money. The company had indicated that it would have to consider withdrawing from Ireland if the union was successful.
