A judgment for £26,200 has been awarded in Dublin Circuit Civil Court against a Dublin shop assistant convicted in October last of having defrauded her employer.

Mr Pat Butler, counsel for Pride and Joy Ltd, Donaghmede Shopping Centre, Raheny, Dublin, told Judge Liam Devally the company was seeking the judgment against a former employee, Ms Joan Doran, Greencastle Crescent, Coolock.

A Pride and Joy director, Mr Patrick Hinksman, told the court an audit revealed that in 1996 gross profit had been reduced by 4 per cent, £36,480, and the company estimated Ms Doran's contribution to that would be £30,000.

He said the District Court had ordered Ms Doran to pay the company £3,800 in compensation and this had been done. There was still £26,200 outstanding.
