An 11-year old Limerick boy received serious injuries yesterday when he was attacked by two Alsatian dogs and a terrier. Alan Daly from Sarsfield Gardens, Moyross, was attacked near his home shortly after 3.30 p.m. after he went to retrieve a ball by climbing over a roadside ditch. Neighbours were alerted to the scene after hearing the boy's screams.

It is understood that he received severe injuries to the head, neck and legs.

He was taken to the Regional Hospital in Limerick where his condition was last night described as comfortable.

Doctors are to decide this morning whether to transfer the boy to Cork Regional Hospital for surgery.

Gardai said the dogs had been put down after the attack.
