Elderly woman killed in Donegal collision

A woman in her 80s has died in a crash involving a car and a minibus in Co Donegal this afternoon.

A woman in her 80s has died in a crash involving a car and a minibus in Co Donegal this afternoon.

The woman was killed when the car in which she was a passenger collided with the minibus at around 1.50pm at Ardagh, Ballyliffin.

A Garda statement said she was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the car was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital with minor injuries. None of the occupants of the minibus was injured.

Elsewhere, gardaí have named the man killed in a car crash in Co Cork overnight. He was Dermot Murphy (20) of Clara Road, Millstreet, Co Cork.

The single-vehicle crash happened at Drumcummer near Kanturk on the N72 between Mallow and Killarney.

So far this year 171 people have died on the roads.
