An elderly woman has died in a house fire in north Dublin.
The fire broke out in a house on Clanawley Road, Doneycarney at around 6 p.m. yesterday evening, and was spotted by a passing Garda patrol.
Two units of the fire brigade attended the scene. The woman, who was in her 80s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital where she died a short time later.
A garda officer who attended the scene was taken to hospital suffering from the effects effects of smoke inhalation.
