An elderly couple are being treated for injuries and shock after being held hostage by three men in Co Longford last night.
The incident occurred at about 1.20am, when three men entered the house at Clondra, which was occupied by a woman (74) and a man (65).
The elderly couple were held hostage in a bathroom where they managed to raise the alarm.
The three men, two in their 30s and one in his 20s, are being detained at Longford garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
