Elderly Belfast man robbed at gunpoint

An elderly man was assaulted at gunpoint tonight during an aggravated burglary in his south Belfast home.

An elderly man was assaulted at gunpoint tonight during an aggravated burglary in his south Belfast home.

Police said the man and his wife have been left badly shaken after their ordeal at their home in the Runnymede area of Tate's Avenue.

Two assailants, one allegedly armed with a handgun, forced their way through the rear door of the property at around 6.30pm.

They hit the man around the face until he handed over a sum of cash.

The PSNI has asked anyone who witnessed anything suspicious to contact them.
