Eight people were slightly hurt after an engine on a Vueling Airlines plane caught fire outside a gate at Paris Orly airport.

The plane, with 165 passengers and crew aboard, was evacuated at Orly’s South Terminal this morning, the budget carrier airline said in a statement.

The plane, which was headed to the southern Spanish city of Alicante, was pushing back from the gate when the fire began, the company said.

The injuries were sustained during the use of exit slides on the Airbus A320, a police official at the airport said.
