PIACENZA - At least eight people died yesterday when a high speed train crashed into electricity pylons in northern Italy. Police said early last night that more victims could still be inside the wreckage of the Milan to Rome express. Some 25 people were injured.

The "Pendolino", Italy's fastest train, derailed as it was approaching the station of Piacenza, 30 miles south of Milan. Seven of the train's eight carriages derailed, the train hitting pylons before coming to a halt.
