A car bomb killed eight Iraqi civilians and wounded 38 others in northern Baghdad's Qahira district today.

Police said the car bomb was detonated by remote control on the side of a busy road during morning rush hour.
A second bomb detonated as police cordoned off the scene of the attack but it did not cause further casualties.
Sunni insurgents fighting the Shi'ite-led Iraqi government often attack crowded streets.
But police are particulalrly worried about an increase in violence ahead of a large Shi'ite festival on Friday that is expected to attract hundreds of thousands to commemorate the birth of a revered Shi'ite Imam.
