Eight arrests at Electric Picnic

Eight people were arrested over the weekend at the Electric Picnic festival at Stradbally, Co Laois.

Eight people were arrested over the weekend at the Electric Picnic festival at Stradbally, Co Laois.

Gardaí said three people were arrested for offences relating to the possession, sale and supply of drugs.

Four were arrested for public order offences while one person was held over the suspected theft of a vehicle.

The Garda Press Office said a number of people were also cautioned over minor drug offences.

Gardaí were unable to supply figures for drink-driving arrests.

Drivers leaving the car park this morning experienced delays of up to an hour due to heavy flooding at the site.

Approximately 30,000 of the 32,500 tickets available were sold for the three-day festival, which has been staged since 2004.
