Dear Editor,

Mary Banotti's letter on the omission of James Joyce from the Leaving Cert syllabus prompted me to write. I am at present studying James Joyce for my Leaving Cert this June. To think that such a profound and lyrical writer is to be excluded from the future Leaving Certificate literature curriculum is ridiculous.

I do not think James Joyce needs to be banned again.

Perhaps De Valera also needs to be excluded from the history curriculum.
