National College of Ireland information session on part-time programmes

The National College of Ireland is holding its final information session for part-time programmes tomorrow from 5pm to 6.30pm at the IFSC campus on Mayor Street, Dublin 1. Representatives from the schools of computing, business and community studies will attend to discuss courses from certificate to degree and post-graduate level.

Talk on Dyslexia and Attention Difficulties

The theme of a talk and presentation at the Cluas centre in Tallaght, Co Dublin at 10am on Saturday, September 20th, is "Dyslexia, ADD/ADHD - Attention Difficulties and Auditory Processing". Visitors are welcome at Cluas from 10am to noon to view the centre's facilities and meet staff. More details and directions to Cluas are available at the website www.cluas.ie.

Meeting for Piano Teachers

EPTA Ireland (European Piano Teachers' Association) is holding a lecture entitled "The Prevention/Treatment of Performance Related Injury for Musicians" at 2.30pm on Sunday, September 21st, at Newpark Music Centre. The presentation will examine different types of performance-related injuries, look at how and why they occur, their impact on musicians and prevention and treatment.

UCD Computer Programming Course for Second-Level Students

UCD School of Computer Science and Informatics (UCD CSI), in association with Google Ireland, is inviting applications for Introduction to Computer Science and Programming (ICSP), a new distance-learning module aimed at opening up the world of computer science and programming to second-level students. Current Leaving Certificate students who wish to to participate in this new initiative should now apply. Reading Association of Ireland Annual Conference

The RAI is holding its annual conference on the theme of "The Changing Landscapes of Literacy - Building Best Practice" at the Church of Ireland College of Education, Rathmines, Dublin 6, from September 25th to 27th.

This years conference will include papers and workshops on the role and development of best practice in literacy in both Irish and English languages. Conference papers will also include topics such as learning styles, assessment and dyslexia.

UL Architecture Exhibition

The 12 architecture projects that were awarded Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) awards this summer will be on public display at the University of Limerick until September 28th. The School of Architecture at UL is hosting an exhibition of the projects, which include all aspects of architecture, from small house extensions to large office and public building projects. The exhibition is situated in the Foundation Building on the UL campus. It is free of charge and open to the public.
