Children's Books Ireland, which works to promote quality literature for children, invites teachers, parents, authors and librarians to come along for three days of seminars on books and reading. This year's event will be held at the Marino Institute of Education, Dublin, starting this Friday, May 19th, and running through Sunday. Among this year's speakers are Helen Cooper, the first author/ illustrator to have won the Kate Greenaway Medal for two consecutive books, as well as Dr. Jerry Griswold, the author of The Classic American Children's Story. There will also be a seminars on a wide variety of topics, including Defining Childhood and Nation: The Case of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn and Ten Dancing Dinosaurs - Bringing Poetry to Life in the Classroom.
