POETRY, pictures and problems is the intriguing title given to the Children's Literature Association of Ireland's seventh annual conference. It opens on Friday, October 18th, with "An evening with Michael Rosen", poet, writer, broadcaster and presenter of the BBC children's book programme Treasure Islands.

On Saturday morning, Berlie Dohery, novelist, playwright and poet will speak on "From life to literature".

The conference will be held in the Church of Ireland College of Education, Rathmines, Dublin. The fee is £30 (CLAI members £25). Full details from the secretary, CLAI, PO Box 4631, Phibsboro, Dublin 7.
