The Irish Council of People with Disabilities said yesterday that immediate action needed to be taken if students with a disability are to be enabled to start training and education courses this September. The council said 1,500 day places are needed if the Government is to fulfil its commitment to deal with the situation. It also called for responsibility for funding the training of people with disabilities to be transferred from the Department of Health.
