Dozens of events across the State will today mark the beginning of Intercultural and Anti-Racism Week.
Organisers said this year’s event would focus particularly on all aspects of both formal and non-formal education.
Director of the National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism (NCCRI), Philip Watt said it had produced a practical toolkit to help primary and secondary schools get to grips with interculturalism.
“Our schools are becoming more diverse particularly as a consequence of inward migration into Ireland,” he said.
“This diversity is to be welcomed but brings additional challenges for bothschools and parents.”
Other events taking part around the country will run from April 7th to 14th. These will include the first Eastern European Business Forum in Ireland, in Dublin on Saturday.
