A Newtownabbey man who told police he had been dealing in ecstasy tablets obtained "on credit" of £1,200, with a £300 profit for himself, was jailed for three years yesterday at Belfast Crown Court.
William Ferguson (21), from Avonlea Gardens, Rathcoole, pleaded guilty to possessing 148 ecstasy tablets with intent to supply. He was arrested in May 1995, when Ferguson was found to have the tablets in a car.
A defence lawyer said Ferguson was a man of comparatively good character who had gone from user to being used, and he added: "There would be others of more evil disposition in the background".
Ferguson was given a six month concurrent sentence for possessing a small quantity of cannabis found at his home.
