Despite creating as many as 1,000 jobs a week, the economy is by and large failing to reduce long-term unemployment, according the Minister for Social Welfare. Dealing with long term unemployment successfully required the "maximum degree of co-operation" between several Departments and agencies, Mr De Rossa said.
