A quake of a magnitude between 5.7 to 5.9 struck off Greece early today without causing any damage, officials said.
The US Geological Survey said the tremor measured 5.9 magnitude and was quite shallow, at a depth of only 10km below the seabed. It was centred in the Ionian Sea, 152km west of Patras.
The quake struck at 5.25am.
The Athens Geodynamic Institute measured it at 5.7 magnitude.
Police and fire brigade officials said there were no reports of injuries or damage. "There is no problem," the fire brigade said.
Greece is regularly hit by earthquakes.
