KOSAMGHAT, India - At least 35 people were killed and about 1,000 injured when powerful earthquake struck central India early yesterday, flattening houses and burying many victims as they slept.
The earthquake, which measured 6.0 on the Richter scale and lasted about 50 seconds, hit Madhya Pradesh state.
