Earthquake hits south Philippines

A 6.5-magnitude earthquake hit the south eastern Philippines today, the US Geological Survey reported.

It said the earthquake was very shallow at 6.3 miles deep and was centered 140 miles east-southeast of Davao City on the island of Mindanao.
