BEIJING - An earthquake measuring 7

BEIJING - An earthquake measuring 7.2 on the open-ended Richter scale hit an off-shore area near the Russian Far East peninsula of Kamchatka on Monday, China's state seismic station said yesterday.

The earthquake struck an area just east of Kamchatka, at 5.57 p.m. Beijing time.
