THE MAN who was fatally injured when he was run over by a stretch limousine in Dundrum, Dublin, at the weekend was named last night as William Stafford (28), Sandyford Road, Dublin.

Mr Stafford was dragged along the road by the stretch Ford Scorpio in Clonard Lawn housing estate.

The incident occurred at 2.45am on Sunday and was witnessed by several passersby.

Mr Stafford was coming home from a night out when he was dragged for 20 metres under the car.

Locals used car jacks to free him and he was taken by ambulance to St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin but he died from his wounds a short time afterwards.

The ownership of the car, which had been in the estate in recent weeks and had been driven by several local people, is being investigated.

Forensic investigators spent Sunday at the scene and the vehicle was taken away for examination.
