Duffy appeal judgment today

Judgment in the Colin Duffy murder appeal is due to be given in the High Court in Belfast today

Judgment in the Colin Duffy murder appeal is due to be given in the High Court in Belfast today. Duffy (20) from Lurgan, was sentenced to life imprisonment last year after being convicted of murdering retired UDR sergeant John Lyness in 1993. One of the main prosecution witnesses was Lindsay Robb, who was later jailed in Scotland for conspiring to buy guns for the UVF.

The prosecution did not rely on his evidence at last week's appeal because he could no longer be regarded as a credible witness. The appeal was heard by the Lord Chief Justice, Sir Brian Hutton, and Lords Justice Carswell and Nicholson.
