Rome - The Duchess of York condemned the behaviour of the British press yesterday in an interview published after her former sister-in-law, Princess Diana, died in a car crash after being pursued by paparazzi.

The duchess told Il Tirreno newspaper in the Italian region of Tuscany where she has been on holiday that she too had been hounded by the British press.

"It has been constant sabotage by an ill-intentioned press towards me for nine years," the duchess said in the interview, which she gave before Diana died.
