Commercial printer Modus Dublin Print Solutions is to close its printworks in Clonshaugh, north Co Dublin, with the loss of 167 jobs.

The company, a subsidiary of US-owned outsourcing company Modus Media, said the downturn in demand for technical manuals was to blame for the closure.

Modus Media also has facilities in Swords, Limerick and Kildare, employing 450 workers. These jobs will not be affected by this afternoon's announcement.

Modus Media International provides business services for other companies in areas such as logistics to call centres. Its clients are mainly in the IT sector.
