Dublin post office raid foiled

Two men have been arrested following an attempted robbery at a post office in Tallaght, south Dublin this morning.

Two men have been arrested following an attempted robbery at a post office in Tallaght, south Dublin this morning.

Local gardaí responding to a report of an armed robbery in progress on Fortunestown Lane arrested the two men at about 8.20am.

They are being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Tallaght Garda station.

A number of items were recovered, including a knife and an imitation firearm.

Following the incident, one of the men was taken to hospital for medical treatment for minor injuries.
