A Dublin man charged with murdering his son was released on bail yesterday evening just hours after his first court appearance. Mr Michael O'Brien (57) appeared in Dublin District Court accused of murdering his son, Fergal (28), at the family home in Vernon Avenue, Clontarf, on Thursday. Sgt Paul Scott told the court the defendant had nothing to say when charged. Mr O'Brien was remanded in custody to appear again on October 24th, but following a High Court bail application he was released on an independent surety of £10,000.
