A drunk driver who killed a 43-year-old mother of three was sentenced to two years' jail and disqualified from driving for 10 years by Judge Anthony Kennedy at Roscommon Circuit Court yesterday.

A freelance journalist and broadcaster, Ms Kathryn Doherty, was killed instantly last January when hit by an out-of-control van driven by Robert Glennon (26), of Four Roads, Co Roscommon.

Glennon's blood alcohol level was over three times the legal limit.
