Drugs worth €245,000 seized in Cavan town

A man (44) has been freed after being held for questioning over the seizure of drugs valued at €245,000 in Cavan town.

A man (44) has been freed after being held for questioning over the seizure of drugs valued at €245,000 in Cavan town.

Gardaí from the Cavan Drugs Unit raided a house yesterday morning and recovered heroin with a street value of €200,000, cannabis plants worth €45,000 and a small number of ectasy tablets.

The man was being held at Cavan Garda station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act. He was freed this afternoon without charge.

A Garda spokesman said a file is to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
