Drugs worth €1.5m seized in Dublin

Gardaí stopped and searched a car at about 7am in the Castleknock area in an ongoing operation targeting drugs in the Cabra and Blanchardstown areas.

A quantity of cannabis resin was found, and the male driver (20) of the car, the sole occupant, was also arrested.

He is being held under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Blanchardstown Garda Station.

Elsewhere a man (23) was arrested following a drugs seizure on the M1 near Dundalk last night.

Shortly before 10pm, gardaí stopped a car on the motorway south of the Dundalk/Ardee slip road. A search of the vehicle uncovered a quantity of cannabis resin, with a potential street value of €250,000, hidden in the boot.

The driver was arrested and is being held at Dundalk Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
