Drugs worth about €500,000 euro have been seized in Limerick.

Gardaí discovered about 2kg of heroin and a small amount of cocaine after searching a house in the Moyross area around midday yesterday.

The seizure was the result of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in Limerick city, according to the Garda press office.

A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene and detained under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act at Henry Street Garda station.

He was later released and a file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions, a Garda spokesman said.
