Self confessed drugs courier Alan McCloy (45) will complete the 12 month jail term he got yesterday at Belfast Crown Court in five days. McCloy will be freed on Friday because having been in custody six months awaiting trial the authorities deem that with remission he has served the equivalent of his year in jail.

The court heard McCloy, of Blacks Road, Belfast, was on parole for supplying ecstasy in 1993 when caught last October with cannabis worth £200,000 in his car.
