A drug dealer who was caught with over €16,000 of what he claimed was "bad quality cocaine" has been remanded in custody for sentencing at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

James O'Reilly (30), with addresses at Earlsfort Road, Lucan, and St Mark's Gardens, Clondalkin, pleaded guilty to posession of the cocaine for sale on August 18th, 2005.

O'Reilly admitted to selling "bits and pieces" but said he had only sold "tasters" of the drugs found in a house. He said he had since "got out of that scene".

O'Reilly has six previous convictions for road traffic offences and for selling drugs.
