A former Dublin drugdealer, Thomas Mullen (28), has failed to have his conviction for importing heroin into Ireland overturned by the Court of Criminal Appeal in London.

The former international amateur boxer had appealed his conviction and the severity of his 18-year sentence. The Court of Criminal Appeal reduced Mullen's sentence to 15 years. It upheld an order that he pay £1.2 million to the British government to fulfil a court confiscation order or serve a further six years in prison.
