An honorary fellowship was conferred by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) on the chairman and chief executive of the Jefferson Smurfit Group, Dr Michael Smurfit, at a ceremony in Dublin on Saturday. The president of the RCSI, Mr Peter McLean, said it was in recognition of Dr Smurfit's "unparalleled contribution to Irish business and the Irish economy".
