Donegal plans two new dumps

Plans to develop two major new dumps in Co Donegal were announced by Donegal County Council yesterday

Plans to develop two major new dumps in Co Donegal were announced by Donegal County Council yesterday. It proposes to build a £2 million dump at Corravaddy, near Letterkenny, and a slightly smaller one at Shannagh, near Laghey.

The council operates seven old landfill sites, but these could all be shut within five years. The fully-lined Corravaddy dump will handle about 30,000 tonnes of waste a year, while the Shannagh site will take half that figure.

A public consultation process has started, and the plans may be inspected at the Central Library, Letterkenny.
