A Co Donegal man was drowned yesterday afternoon when he entered the sea to retrieve his fishing rod.

A Co Donegal man was drowned yesterday afternoon when he entered the sea to retrieve his fishing rod.

The man, from Ballymacgaraghy, Co Donegal, was fishing with a group of anglers when his rod was swept into the water. He removed most of his clothing and swam after the rod, but got into difficulties.

His name has not been released.
