Doctor awarded papal medal

A Tipperary doctor has been awarded a medal by the Pope for distinguished service to the Catholic Church.

A Tipperary doctor has been awarded a medal by the Pope for distinguished service to the Catholic Church.

Dr James Molony, from Thurles, is to receive the Bene Merenti medal from the retired Archbishop of Cashel, Dr Thomas Morris, in Thurles Cathedral tonight.

Dr Molony's award is in particular for his work with Accord, formerly the Catholic Marriage Advisory Council.
