DL takes council chair

A Democratic Left councillor, Mr Mick Billane, has been elected chairman of South Dublin County Council.

A Democratic Left councillor, Mr Mick Billane, has been elected chairman of South Dublin County Council.

Mr Billane, who is an employee of the council's housing and maintenance department, was first elected to the then Dublin County Council in 1991. He has campaigned for drug treatment facilities and was involved in the recent establishment of a treatment centre in Jobstown.
